Discussions around political change on the individual level are absolutely essential, so I am very glad you decided to publish this Jessica!

I would add though that there is a big middle ground between successfully convincing someone to change their mind and cutting off the conversation. In part, this middle ground is made up of building stronger connections *through* your disagreement. By simply relating to someone's perspective, not trying to take it on as your own or even trying to change it, you might be able to form a better relationship with them. These connections are the corner stone of any healthy political community.

Emotions are extremely important in political dialogue, and I really like how you stressed that here. Although just because someone has a different lived experience and value base to you, doesn't mean all hope is lost: just takes a little empathy!
