I really like this perspective Elizabeth. However, is it possible that affirmative action occurs differently in other fields? One thing I hear often in these debates is criticism of 'quotas' or places being withheld for particular demographics: particularly in Colleges and Universities.

Would this not also be affirmative action? And if so, how does that play into your view?
