I would have to disagree with you on this one. While seemingly unlimited by merit of the sheer amount of information we have access to, the way major websites are structured very much restricts what we can do. In fact, I would argue the wild-west age of the internet is coming to an end. Social Media is, of course, the most glaring example. Sites like Facebook actively push you to come into contact with accounts that produce and share the content that will keep you online: the content that affirms what you believe. This creates the echo chambers that allowed Trump and BREXIT to gather the support bases they did.
Also “unless you live in China” should not be such a footnote. 1/7th of the world's population missing from our “free” internet is not insignificant.
