This reflection on 9/11 really made me think, and I absolutely agree. In another article I was reading recently, it explains how the community-oriented policing that many of the protestors are calling already existed, first beginning in the 1990s. However, after 9/11, police departments redirected their funds towards counter-terrorism, and community-policing became to resemble the very thing it sought to replace.

It’s really quite incredible to think just how much 2001 changed things in the US, and the world as a whole.

Either way, great article. Reading parts II and III right away!
