To be fair I think I remember this teaching in the Bible, specifically from the tale, "The Feeding of the Mentally Ill 5000" in the Gospel of John.
It's the one where Jesus Christ chastises a crowd of his followers for not appropriately planning their convoy to meet him. "It's not my fault you are sick and poor," Jesus says unto the crowd, "perhaps if you had just cancelled your Netflix subscriptions and budgeted better you wouldn't all be in this mess!"
